There are many factors which need to be thought about when choosing what kind of <a

href="http://www.yourfloors.co.uk">flooring to go for. Getting new flooring put in in your home

can breathe new life into it and can be a great way to improve your living environment. It may not

be as expensive as you think either.

An important factor when choosing flooring is what the role of that room is. Flooring which makes

sense for the dining room may not be suitable for the bathroom or kitchen for example. Some of the

most widely used types of flooring are carpet, vinyl, wood, and laminate.

Laminate flooring can be a fantastic substitute for wooden flooring if you are looking to achieve a

wood effect floor for a fraction of the price. Laminate flooring consists of a sheet of MDF with a

wood-effect plastic surface fixed to it. One pitfall of laminate flooring is that whilst it is

scratch resistant once it is scratched it is not possible to repair. Apart from that it can still be

a perfect choice for a kitchen, where the plastic coating provides an easy to clean surface.

Conversely solid wood flooring would not be advisable in a bathroom, or in fact any room which is

likely to get very wet. Some woods are particularly sensitive to moisture such as beech.

If you are planning to install a wooden floor, its critical you have the right surface to fit it

on. An ideal surface would be flat, and dry. There are options however to resolve uneven flooring

issues, such as laying ply throughout, or employing an underlay to create a floating

floor.

More often than not laminate flooring is sold as a product you can fit together yourself which is a

great way of keeping costs down. Solid wood flooring requires however a higher degree of DIY

competence, so it can sometimes be advisable to get solid wooden floors fitted professionally which

on the downside can add a considerable cost.

Something many people do not realise when they measure their room to work out how much flooring they

will need ” is that it is important to include a 10mm gap around the edge of the room for the wooden

flooring to expand and contract.

As a fundamental part of any interior design strategy, it is important to choose the correct

flooring. Whilst wooden or laminate floors can be ideal ” often for a more chic minimalist look;

carpet can be a better option if you are trying to achieve a more traditional home feel. The

important thing is you take into account the various factors you need to consider before ordering

new flooring.

Oprah and Harpo Productions, consistently reap awe-inspiring progress and record-breaking profits even after 25 years. While Oprah consistently soars with stellar growth, the rest of the industry seems to stumble, tumble or even disappear. So, just what is it about Oprah that has her consistently reaping hilacious growth for more than two decades and still remain fresh and vivacious as ever? Oprah Winfrey has reinvented herself so smoothly, so successfully and with such precision, very few have consciously noticed! I believe Oprah is aware of the fact that annuals are-by nature-dormant for seasons at a time. She innovatively capitalizes on this truth and remains a “perennial classic.”

You Grow, Girl! Oprah consistently manifests phenomenal growth professionally, intellectually, spiritually, financially and socially every “season” of her year. Whereas others, seem content to rely primarily on the harvest of their “falls.” Oprah is not only acutely aware of her environment, but she plans (and plants) so well, so meticulously … she evens reaps harvests during her “winters!”

What’s Inside Really Never Changes! Chinese gooseberries didn’t sell well at all until they were renamed, Kiwi fruit. Seemingly overnight, this humble, quaint-looking, fuzzy fruit was “reinvented” into an exotic, all-of-a-sudden-much-desired, green intricacy. The “Queen of Personality” went from “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” to “Oprah!” and now owns O! magazine. Her reinventions are powerful, yet short and simple. But her core and all that’s inside, has never been compromised. The Key to Reinvention is Real Simple. Keep it short; but powerful! Even Einstein kept it down to:E= mc2 (yet he reinvented and rocked the science world). Tend to Your Garden; But Don’t Pull Up All the Roots! Don’t limit yourself to just replanting your life. Learn how to identify which sections need to be up-rooted; which sections need to be cultivated and which sections need to be left alone.

Now, while you’re reading this, Oprah is hard at work cultivating her next “row.” Isn’t it time you got busy, too?

Here are 5 solutions to slimming:

1. Set Mini-Goals: Try setting short-term or “mini” goals to help you achieve your goal of shedding the excess weight. Keep in mind that your mini goals should be specific and realistic, and they should have a measurable outcome. Setting your target in specific, measurable terms will increase your chances of accomplishing your long term goal of losing those unwanted pounds. In addition, remember to be realistic. If you’ve been consuming over 2000 calories, dont try cutting back to 1400 overnight. And if you haven’t exercised all year, dont aim to run three miles each day.

2. Budget your foods: If you can budget your money, you can budget your foods. Aim to have a specific amount of fruits, vegetables, starches, proteins and fats throughout the day, or for each meal. By limiting the amounts of each type of food, you will be able to stay within a calorie level that will enable you to loose weight.

3. Keep a food journal: Keeping a food journal helps you to avoid what is called “unconscious eating” - eating that leads to consumption of excess calories, beyond what you may have ever intended to consume. In fact, research actually shows that keeping a food journal will help you to loose weight!

If emotional eating is a big sticking point for you, then journaling your moods, such as stress, boredom or anger can help you pinpoint problem areas, which in some cases may serve as triggers to overeating. Once you understand the problem, you can find a solution that does not involve opening the boxes of cookies or the jar of jellybeans.

4. Get moving: If you dont have time to get to the gym or to your aerobics class, be sure to engage in some physical activity at some point during the day. Believe it or not, even light physical activity can help you shed excess pounds and get into shape.

Burning an extra 500 calories each day will help you to loose one pound per week. So, be sure to take advantage of the longer days with outside walks and outdoor activities. In addition to burning excess calories, getting out of the house to get your body moving will keep you away from the refrigerator.

5. Drink lots of water: Water will help to curb your appetite; it will also keep you hydrated during the hot months ahead, And here is an added bonus: Cold water helps you to burn calories! That’s right - the process of bringing cold water to your body’s own temperature involves expending energy, or calories. So carry a water bottle with you at all times, and aim for at least eight ounce glasses each day (or ten if you exercise).

1. Be Present

Live in the now. The past is gone. You can never go back and make it right. You can never re-live a life that was yesterday. Live positively in the present moment, no matter what is occurring. It is All right and perfect. Do not look ahead and dread what may come. Our mind creates a lot of chatter and makes us afraid in order to keep us safe. Tell your mind “Thanks for sharing” and affirm “I am here, I am present”. You are always at choice and you know how to make this day beautiful.

2. Nature

Sit on the lawn or next to a tree. Feel the pulse of the earth, the grandeur of the sky, the coolness of the breeze on your face, or the warmth of the sun on your face. Smile at nature, say hello to the bugs and all the animals you meet. Take a walk in a park or hike on a trail.

3. Exercise

Daily exercise gives you a break from your mind chatter, helps pump your heart, circulates your blood, clears toxins from your body, charges you with energy and has many other benefits. Choose an activity that is fun and mix it up. Do walking one day and yoga another day. Take a Tai Chi class and meet new people. The list of possibilities is endless.

4. Spirituality

Recognize and know you are important and unique. Meditate, or sit quietly, and be in the moment. Read books that are uplifting and have positive messages. Give thanks for your health, your home, your friends, all the joy and happiness in your life and all the good that surrounds you.

5. Forgiveness

It is time to let it go. Forgive all parts of yourself to be whole and perfect. Forgive yourself for any past mistakes or shortcomings; forgive the child within for being afraid; forgive the teenager that spoke words of anger; forgive the young adult for not being a risk taker. Forgive others in the past. Forgive your parents, your siblings and relatives. Let go of all grudges. Forgiveness is about coming to peace within yourself.

6. Bubble Bath

Give yourself permission to relax and savor quiet times. Read a book for fun. Spend that extra money and get a massage or a facial. Do something selfish for yourself.

7. Nutrition

Listen to your body. Feed it good nutritious food. Take a high quality multi-vitamin or a liquid supplement. Most health challenges can be reduced or eliminated with a dietary supplement.

8. Let Go of Judgment

Give up judgement and give up blame. Never speak critically of others or yourself. Speak words of encouragement to yourself and everyone you meet. Accept everyone for who they are and embrace their differences.

9. Service To Others

Reach out and lend a hand to a friend in need. Offer unconditional service to others. Be a great listener and really listen to people when they speak. Find ways to help others to lift their spirits and help lessen their burdens.

10. Love

Love yourself and use positive words of encouragement. Compliment strangers and make others smile. Speak from a loving heart and shine with joy.

Do you wish you could live your dream life? Here’s 5 top tips to help turn your dream into reality…

1. Invest in your dream. This will mean investing time to develop the necessary skills and investing money to develop skills - equipment, books, courses, seminars - to take you closer to your goals. These are investments in yourself - in your dream and are never wasted. My best friend is currently studying to be a commercial pilot. The process will cost him around FIFTY THOUSAND dollars. Some investment. His response: “I’m worth it.” Are you?

2. Accept and embrace change. Change terrifies many people mainly because change is viewed as a threat to security. I’m sure you know what a comfort zone is? It’s why so many resist change. However, in resisting change, 2 threats are posed. First, you miss an opportunity to broaden your horizons. An opportunity to grow has been presented. You could learn new skills, open yourself up to new experiences and develop your character. If you are to grow as an individual, embracing change is vital because change means growth. Secondly, in resisting change, you wrap yourself up in a cocoon and life passes you by. You don’t grow, life stays the same and in doing so, you become stale. This can lead to great unhappiness as the years pass by. Do you want to look back on a safe, but ultimately stale, life?

3. In pursuing your dream, accept that risk is going to be a part of the whole process. Nothing worthwhile has ever been achieved without exposure to risk. Yes, you may risk losing money, yes you may risk working long hours for little or no reward, yes you may risk ridicule, disapproval, rejection and of course, failure. But risk is EXCITING. Replace risk with a guarantee of certain success, without challenge, pain, or danger and well, how boring do you want your life to be? Think of this: How rewarding is it to achieve something worthwhile having overcome difficulties and negative people, and say: “I’ve done it!” Some feeling, yes? If you’re frightened of taking even the smallest of risks, you’re allowing your imagination to set boundaries on the happiness you can gain from life. But it will only do this if you let it.

4. This leads me nicely into one of the biggest fears we all share: The fear of failure. But how bad is failure? If you wrap yourself up in a cocoon, hiding away from life in the pursuit of security, then you’re guaranteed to fail because you haven’t done anything. Conversely, if you get out there and give it a go, well sure, you’re going to experience failure. There isn’t one single achievement in human history that didn’t involve failure - even a number of failures - before success came. Failure brings us the opportunity to learn. It’s been said many times: “the only true failure is to quit” and that is the bottom line. Whatever happens to you, learn from it. Treat every experience as a stepping stone to your ultimate aims and failure will act as a driving force and not a brick wall.

5. Finally, have the courage to be the person you want to be. You won’t be a unique, fulfilled, joyously happy person living your dream if you decide to do what everybody else is doing. Be you. It doesn’t matter how crazy, mad, dangerous or wacky your dream is. It is YOUR dream. It is YOUR life. YOU and only YOU can live it your way. Just because 2 million people do the same thing, it doesn’t make it right FOR YOU. And doing things just because everybody else does them means we’re more akin to sheep than unique individuals who express ourselves through our dreams. Why be like everybody else when you can be UNIQUELY YOU? You pass this way but once. You have a blank canvas on which to paint your life. Why paint the same picture everybody else is painting when you can paint your own unique masterpiece?

You now have 5 ways to take you closer to your dreams. Why not give it your best shot? After all, what else have you got planned for the rest of your life?

To YOUR future.

During a conference, one of my mentors shared a very simple exercise that I now use with my clients to demonstrate the power of how our beliefs guide what we shall receive. He asked those in the audience to take a sheet of paper and on the left side write the letter B for Birth and on the right side write the letter D for Death. Upon completion of this task, he then asked, “What was in between?” Answers varied from life to troubles. In his coy and quiet southern accent, he acknowledged every answer as being good, but not quite the one he was seeking. Eventually, he stated that what existed in-between birth and death was “just a matter of inconvenience.”

How many times have you visited the local gas station in the morning, swiped your credit card and upon completion of filling your tank, you failed to receive the requested receipt? The electronic message is displayed, Please see cashier. Maybe, if you were like me, you stomped up to the cashier’s counter with not the most pleasant face and waited in line. As you waited, you looked to your watch and counted the minutes that this delay was costing you. Then, maybe, you gruffly said something like “The pump said I needed to see you for the receipt” or “My receipt didn’t print!” The harried cashier printed out the receipt, you grabbed it, quickly mumbled “thank you” and walked out in a huffy hurry. As you entered your car, you were still very upset and those thoughts stayed with you most of the day.

Now, by engaging a mentality of peace and abundance, where we accept that we will face daily inconveniences, life begins to change. Yes, machines still fail to print receipts. However, now when you enter the gas station, you receive a smile from the cashier because you engage the belief that this is ‘no big deal.” Your attitude of peace and abundance has infected the cashier and she offers you a free coffee as well as an apology for your inconvenience. You calmly walk back to you car, receipt in hand and accept this minor inconvenience for exactly what it is - a minor inconvenience. You choose not to engage in a mentality of conflict and scarcity. The day begins with peace and abundance. Just imagine how far everyday you can go by engaging beliefs of abundance instead of scarcity?

Personally, I can attest that since engaging these positive beliefs of peace and abundance, I have received not only the pleasure of a smile, but offers of free coffee and even money. However, what is really incredible is that I now begin the morning engaged with myself and in control of what I allow to affect me.

As always, the choice is yours to make and yours to live with.

How do you view failure? Do you see it as something negative that you don’t want to be associated with or do you see it as something positive? Most people in the world don’t like failure.

Fear of failure is the main reason why more than 80% of people in the world are not prepared to change their circumstances. Why do people fear failure so much? The reason for this is because people don’t understand the dynamics involved in success and failure.

Everything we do in life has either a right way of doing it and a wrong way of doing it. When we do it the right way we meet with success. Needless to say that when we do it the wrong way we are unsuccessful. Understanding this is important because it puts failure in its proper perspective and removes the fear around it.

When someone who doesn’t understand this dynamic meets with temporary failure he gives up thinking that he is not good enough or that he will never make it. But is this really what it is? Does the fact that you didn’t make it the first time mean that you are not good enough? Does it mean that you’ll never make it? Not at all! All it means is YOU HAVE NOT FOUND THE CORRECT METHOD YET!

So what do you do next? You go back and try and find out where you went wrong.

Then you try again this time employing a different method. When this doesn’t work you go back and look at everything you have done so far. Talk to successful people who have made it in this area.

Think of what you might have left out and try again. Whatever you do, don’t give up.

Why do you need to do this? Because, “Every failure, every adversity and every heartache, carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit”, says author and mentor to many great men, Napoleon Hill. Failure contains the seed of victory and of success.

Failure teaches you what works and what doesn’t. When you study the reasons for your failure and learn from it, you’ll find the key to your success. The great inventor Thomas Edison knew this truth better than anyone else. It took Edison 8000 trials to perfect the Edison battery? Afterwards he uttered this famous quote, “At least we know 8000 things that don’t work”.

You should also be like that. Every successful person has had to overcome temporary defeat at one time or another. Know this! You haven’t really failed until you ACCEPT defeat. Do you envy those who got success easily? Don’t! Success earned in spite of earlier failure is so much sweeter than if you would get it otherwise.

Those who earn success in this way know the road to success. They are not afraid of losing what they have because they have learned how to become successful. Those that easily got success don’t know the road.

They got there so quickly that they didn’t bother to look around. Let me use the following analogy to illustrate. Take two guys traveling to the same destination, with this difference. The one is going by airplane and the other by car, but the one arriving by car had a few breakdowns along the way.

If you take these two guys back to their original position and ask them to find their way to their destination, who do you think is going to remember the road better the next time? Surely the guy who had a few breakdowns and spend some time on the road, because he had the opportunity to look around.

Let temporary defeat no longer be an obstacle. You have many hidden talents, so start working towards realizing your dreams. Don’t be put off by the fear of failure. Failure is an ally because it contains the seed of success.

Keeping a journal is a form of creative expression that enhances the creativity coaching process. Keeping a journal develops emotional awareness, reinforces self-esteem and aids in problem-solving. Keeping a journal also provides a written record of artistic growth, struggle and change. Here are some basic exercises that I use throughout the creativity coaching process.

DIALOGUE: Writing a dialogue between one or more subjects helps to identify and separate emotions, ideas, issues and influences in a given creative situation. The primary result of writing dialogue is to clarify the creative situation, to give voice to all aspects of the situation and to restore the situation to it’s proper perspective.

GRATITUDE LIST: Thank you lists are very easy to write. It takes no more than a few seconds, some paper and a pen to create a list. Thank you lists, no matter what the length, powerfully challenge negative thoughts, disappointment and disouragement. Lists also help restore the situaition to it’s rightful place in the clients creative pocess. Thank you lists are especially useful when pursuing long-term goals and facing crises.

COMPLETED ACTION LIST: What a client thinks can powerfully impact the creative process. Building an artistic career upon past negative artistic experiences blocks creative expression. It also leaves no room for the possiblitiy of current or future positive change. Keeping track of completed actions, no matter how small, provides an accurate record of the client’s progress toward her artistic and business goals.

GOAL LIST: Identifying and developing artistic and business goals, provides a clear path for fullfilling the client’s dreams. Regular progress through each goal can become a ready source of motivation for the client. The goal list provides a reality check for boh the client and the coach, when difficulties rise or progress is being assessed.

CHARACTER TRAITS LIST: Developing and maintaining a list of the character traits reinforces self-esteem, aids in problem-solving, and increases emotional awareness. The client describes one success using one character trait. The client learns to acknowledge her participation in the creative process which will encrourage future creative learning and growth.

Keeping a journal of creative work and progress can enrich all areas of an artist’s life. Start exploring your creativity today.

The men and women who serve in America’s armed forces, National Guard, and reserve forces have paid a great service to our country. Some of them will never come back from foreign wars and others will return shattered and maimed both physically and emotionally. They deserve our thanks and our praise and they also deserve a second chance at getting a college degree.

The benefits of a college degree for current and future employment are clearly evident. So too are the economic benefits and increased earning power of having a college education. That’s why America owes military veterans the assistance to make their second chance a successful one.

Most branches of the Armed Forces have specific funding and scholarships dedicated to their men and women on active duty and in reserves. The Army plan for examples provides for assistance up to $75,000 for an active duty soldier who wants to get a higher education.

Some people in the military plan their way to a college degree long before they leave the service but many others enroll right after high school and don’t think about college until after they return from their tour of duty. These people need a whole lot more assistance just to get their life back on track and then they start looking for their options, sometimes even years later.
The good news is that there are now educational supports available to veterans from a variety of sources including the Veterans Administration, the Department of Defense and a wide range of academic and business organizations. The Army for example has developed partnerships with over 1,600 colleges and universities across the country to assist both active duty soldiers and veterans explore their higher education options.

To create an educational plan for yourself as a military veteran you simply need to find out as much information as you can about veteran and military financial aid to assist your college education and once you have access to the money, then develop a plan to make it happen.

Your plan should outline your goals for your college education including what you would like to study and where you would like to learn. Your VA counselor would be pleased to help you put that together. Next you will need to select a program that suits your needs at an institution of your choice. Your final step is easy. Go to school, work hard, and study harder.

Your life as college graduate awaits you. As a military veteran you deserve it.
