Some People Just like Devoting Ten Minutes to Watch MS Windows Starting
April 10th, 2010I dont know what would be the reaction of people when they know that I love spending first ten minutes of my office hours watching Windows start up.
However, unlike the above users, if you prefer to immediately start working, following tips can help you to make your Windows start comparatively quickly.
First thing, reduce the load from your slow PC.
Every time it starts, the system loads numerous programs.
For instance all the icons displayed at the bottom of screen, near the clock of your computer are auto-start programs.
Besides these, there may be many more programs on your PC that are autostart but don’t reveal their presence.
It is noteworthy that an autoloading program slows your PCs boot time, with the only difference that some affect it a little while others affect it heavily. Since many of them keep running in the background, they have had a little impact on your performance.
Ensure that you can reverse the changes before beginning with the elimination work of autoloaders. After creating the restore point, Click Close.
MS Windows Vista users need to select Start, then Control Panel and then System. Click System Protection under Tasks, which in on windows right side. Then click Create at windows bottom in the System Property Box that appears.
For MS XP users, the steps involve: select Start, type msconfig and press [Enter]. Vista users should select Start, write msconfig in the Search box and then press [Enter].
Then click the Startup tab, which will list all autoloading applications on your system, having a check box each. If you uncheck an item in a check box, it will stop that application from loading at startup.
You have to select your Autoloading programs. Select the applications you need to leave checked so that they continue to autoload.
Among the programs, first comes your antivirus, firewall and other security applications that should be checked.
Although these programs slowdown the speed of your computer and even cause conflicts, they could lead to high cost if blocked from running while using the system.
Apply your own wisdom for any other program in the list. To ask yourself whether the program is a good program or not would not be wise enough. Instead, you should think if the program needs to be on always.
After identifying and unchecking the programs that are not required to autoload at the systems startup, you have to click OK and reboot the system. You will notice Windows loading with an extremely lengthy message box appear to be an error message.
Check the box displaying Dont show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts, and then click OK. However, the wording will be different in case of Vista.
