There Is a Good Deal to Observe on Hayling Island

October 26th, 2009

If you want to see the sights of Hayling Island, there are many ways to do that. Put on your cycling shoes or your walking boots.

Enjoy a variety of walks with the Hayling Island group taking in the scenic sea views.

This group offers a short walk with a gentle pace for beginner or slower walkers to enjoy.

The longer walk enables those who enjoy a slightly faster paced amble to enjoy the Hayling coastline whilst socialising with friends.

Share a morning saunter with friends taking in the good sea air and ever changing environment, returning for refreshments.
This is mainly a flat route. There are two short hills at the Rowlands Castle end of the route. The majority of the route is on cycle path, but 3 short sections are on road:
1. from The Recreation Ground, The Fairway, Rowlands Castle to the bottom of the hill in Durrants Road
2. the section of road between Langstone Road and Langstone Bridge on to Hayling Island. The pavements on both sides of Langstone Bridge (only) are cycle paths.
3. the southern loop of Staunton Ave, Sea Front and Sinah Lane.

The Hayling Billy Coastal Path is produced from jammed scalpings, with a top-dressing, there’s some tarmac and a little of concrete and it may be a spot lumpy in places. Almost all road bikes will cope but mountain bikes are better suited ” I pedaled the route on a mountain bike with slick road tyres and I was All Right. There are places where a little of would choose to walk but these sites are few and far between and very short ” bearing in mind I pedaled the route the day following torrential downpours which pulled leaves off trees etc. a few puddles about but on the whole it was pretty well drained.

If you want to know about a wonderful place to stay on Hayling Island then you should consider Cockle Warren. It’s a gorgeous little Hayling Island bed and breakfast place that you would do well to choose

Brushing off the Tennis Rackets

June 30th, 2009

It’s the last week in June so that can mean just one thing. Wimbledon has hit our screens! It’s the half a month in the calendar year when people will root out their tennis rackets, find their whitest of whites and brave the unavoidable showers to brush up on their back hand and volley. Man and Van Wimbledon is dedicated to giving out the most competent and economical service purchasable even when SW19 fills with tourists. Man and Vans, London’s leading light removal service, is established in South West London and truly is happy to help its neighbors with any light removals they might have. Man and Van Wimbledon might be too occupied to take to the courts this summer but here at Man and Vans headquarters we’re very crazy about Wimbledon’s new Centre Court Roof. Although Man and Van Wimbledon will do work in the pelting rain, Rafael, Roger and Andy have never been too enthusiastic about braving heavy rain. It’s good news that this year there’ll be no need for Cliff Richards’ services as, from the 17th May, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association has been using its new retractable roof. Health and Safety tests on the court were guided by none other than Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters, who delighted in an exhibition game of mixed doubles as the well timed rain spattered the roof as it closed up.

Cooking on a Camping Stove

May 6th, 2009

The wide selection of camping cooking stoves labeled with technical descriptions which a layman wouldn’t appreciate, might be daunting for those who are not so experienced when it comes to camping and purchasing camping cooking stoves. Nonetheless, purchasing the right camping stove isn’t as hard as it might seem.

With these information and accessible tips, selection and purchase would be far easier

Size

Camping brands such as Coleman offer one, 2 and multiple burner camping cooking stoves. If you are solo packing, a camping cooking stove with 1 or 2 burner may do but if you want to go camping with the whole family or plan to have a camping cook banquet with some mates, go for a camping cooking stove which has 2 or more burners to save lots of time cooking.

Kind of Fuel

After deciding which stove size is acceptable for your camping desires, the following thing to think about is the sort of fuel you’ll be wanting to use. Your fuel options include propane, white gas ( otherwise known as Coleman fuel ), unleaded gas, butane or kerosene. Nevertheless it is typically commended to use either propane or white gas only. Out of all of the camping cooking stoves, those that are powered by white gas produce the most heat. It’s the more environment-friendly choice for it burns cleanly without any odour or effect on food taste as well as produces less waste. Many of the Coleman camping stoves that are fuelled with white gas operate on twin fuel system that means the stove can run either on white gas or unleaded petrol.

Even So, it’s best that you use only white gas unless during cases when you run out of it and can’t buy any. But propane Coleman camping cooking stoves are also great decisions due to their easiness to operate and ignite, and good performance in warm climates and at low elevations.

Most Coleman camping cooking stoves powered with propane fuel actually have electronic ignitions to save some time and energy. Sort of Camping Activity another thing worth considering to make is the kind of camping you plan to do during your trip. For example, if you intend to go back packing, select a camping stove that is light, has a single burner for this is better to carry in your load. But if you plan to go on a family camping trip, a group hike or RV camping, it is more suitable to select 3 or 4 burner cooking stoves that would let you make a grand fiesta for everybody.

Now, if you are intending to go on a beach camping trip or have a yard party where you may possibly wish to do some barbecuing on the side, a mixture of a cooking stove and griddle is the ideal choice for you. Many camping brands like Coleman provides you with a big range of quality camp stoves and background info on its features to make your decision much easier.

Aphrodites Island

August 30th, 2008

Cyprus is an island with strong greek traditions, but its great all year round sun is what attracts most of us, which has made it a very popular destination for Europeans, with over 2.4 million visiting its many resorts. The island receives over 330 days of sunshine a year, which has given it the name The Island of the Sun. There is no shortage of travel companies tailoring Cyprus holidays and low cost airlines such as Easyjet offering routes to Paphos and Larnaca, there has never been a better time to visit.

Cyprus attracts tourists from all over the world, but the majority come from Europe. Affluent eastern Europeans and Russians have also joined the crowd in recent years. One of the main reasons why there is such a heavy presence of Brits in Cyprus is because of the positioning of the British Armed forces in the southern Greek part of the island. The UK retains a military base in order to have a gateway for forces to the Middle East. The impact of this on the surrounding area is that Cypriots have grown used to, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. English is widely spoke and understood among nearly all age groups to driving on the left side of the road. A major attraction for many Brit tourists is that the island offers all of the comforts and familiarities of home, but in a more favourable climate.

For many reading this, the prospect of taking a holiday away from England only to be greeted at the airport by a hire car representative hailing from Croydon and being served an authentic Mediterranean dish of steak and chips will not appeal. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. Fortunately as you venture off the beaten track, your are soon reminded of the character that has made this island a popular destination for millennia.

A trip well worth taking is into Cyprus largest mountain range, the Troodos Mountains. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. Kykkos even has its own winery where the monks bottle and sell their wine. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

Nepalese climber, 74, oldest mountaineer to reach the summit of Everest

June 12th, 2008

Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Andrew Brash returned a hero to Calgarians. Now that Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.

“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the Mount Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Mount Everest is shared by two countries. “Chomolungma or Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

Min Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

This year European mountaineer Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for Mt Everest after he reached the summit of Mont Blanc in France earlier this season.

The 76-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Everest. Nevertheless, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Andrew Brash with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. His first found him within 203 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Two years later, Min Bahadur Sherchan, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Chomolungma to finish what he had started.

They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

The Chinese were flying their airplanes over Mt Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Chomolungma, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. Therefore, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Everest could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Sherchan just 25 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. More than 3044 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. Andrew Brash returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Mount Everest.
